Cafe Rio was founded in 2010 by Maria and Carlos Rivera, a husband-and-wife duo with a shared dream — to bring the warmth of homemade cooking to their community. What began as a small corner cafe with six tables and a chalkboard menu has grown into a beloved neighborhood institution.

The Doors Open

Maria and Carlos Rivera open Cafe Rio with 6 tables, a wood-fired oven, and a hand-written menu. Day one sells out completely.

2013

First Expansion

Overwhelming demand leads to a full renovation — tripling seating capacity and introducing a dedicated catering menu for events.

2016

Local Farm Partnerships

Cafe Rio formalizes partnerships with three Henderson-area farms, committing to 80% locally sourced produce in every seasonal menu.
